| 2005 Archives: Jude's epistle is small, but mighty. He is speaking about the doom of Godless men. Today our world is full of Godless people. We are seeing more and more of this idea of removing God from every aspect of life, or mocking anything that resembles Godly teachings. Jude warned us that there will be scoffers who follow their own ungodly desires. What is a scoffer? It is anyone who wishes to convey a doctrine contrary to biblical truth with mockery and distain. There were scoffers at the foot of Jesus' cross. They mocked Jesus and hurled insults at Him with deep hatred. Scoffers have been around for thousands of years. Today we have the same thing happening, but in the United States , it seems to be more prevalent than in years past. False teachers and their false doctrine are running rampant. This should not surprise us, especially if we have read our bibles and paid attention to the warnings, as this one mentioned in Jude. The apostles –Paul and John, and Jesus Himself warned us of these false teachers and scoffers. Technology and a liberal media provide a perfect Petri dish for this promotion and continual bombardment of false doctrine and scoffing. Just pick up a major newspaper, or a popular magazine or watch any network or cable television and it will be filled with anti-God ideas. Even the television programs that suggest they are going to portray a true biblical account of some person or subject bring in so-called “experts”. These experts have distinguished careers in their field and authored many books, or chaired a department or two, but their comments are anywhere but biblically based. Listen to them carefully, discern what they are saying, and determine if it's biblical. You will find that many times these experts are actually scoffers, hiding behind all the letters after their names. Their false teachings are increasing in intensity, and the Bible said it would increase just before the tribulation. I am not suggesting that the Tribulation is in the near future. But I am suggesting that it would appear the Satan is turning up his heat. He is attacking with great boldness and using the ungodly to help. Scoffers, many in the academic community, the evolutionists, the Marxists, fatalists, Darwinists, those that promote Freudianism, liberalism, humanism, Gnosticism, sadly these folks have plagued humanity with the their non-sense, their scoffing, and far too man people are buying into it. Many of our universities are promoting these false teachings, many of which were theologically founded. They are now offering courses and offer tenure to teachers who are breeding a new generation of scoffers. As soon as a Creationist or a biblical worldview are pointed out and presented, the mockery begins.Whey are there so many who reject the teachings of the Bible? God, through His Bible tells us that our world will be full of scoffers. In 2 Peter 3:3 it says it clearly. The Good News to those who are still alive is: it is not too late for you! Reject your own evil desires. Did you know that God is holding up His own glory until everyone that He has called to be with Him…comes to Him. That is a promise you can bank on. “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but that everyone will come to repentance.” We have seen, and will see more and more false teachers who mock God and Christ. The devil will continue to deluge us with it. So how do we combat this? The full armor of God is: God's Word. We must know It, live it, trust It, use It, be assured in It, rest in the peace of It, rely on the truth of It. God's Word is your full armor. |
